BALTRA AIRPORT
MY ARRIVAL TO ECUADOR
AND THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
The islands were named for the similarity of one of the species of large turtles, like Old George, which reminded the sailors of a Spanish saddle called Galapago. It had a leather skirt in the pattern of the scalloped edge of the turtle shell and a high seat like the back of the turtle.
