Galapagos Islands and Quito, Ecuador 2006

My grandson, Marshall Harding and I were in Equador 20-31 May 2006. We flew from Houston to Guayaquill and on to Baltra in the islands. There we boarded a ship, the M.S. ISLANDER, for a weeklong circumnavigation of the group of volcanic peaks forming the islands. Charles Darwin visited this place and formed his idea called evolution in a book, “Origin of the Species”. This interesting adventure let us see the varied fauna that he studied. Our luxurious trip made for a very pleasurable learning experience. We paid a $100 each park fee to enjoy the limited public access. Some islands you cannot set foot on and all others have well marked trails that limit your exploration attempts. On Bartolome we were required to stay on a boardwalk and stairs up to the peak and not allowed to set foot on the island. This is a purpose filled attempt to keep the island group as pristine as possible for the protection of the wild life. I hope you will enjoy my picture collection of the trip that also includes three days around Quito.
